Periodically, about once every 12 to 18
months there is a NASA Research Announcement (NRA)
inviting proposals for applied information systems
research that has the potential of increasing life
cycle effectiveness and efficiency of research across
the Science Mission Directorate.
Suggested (unprioritized) objectives for proposals
to this program are to:
- Reduce mission development time, risk, and cost
through, for example, advanced simulation and
design capabilities;
- Increase mission duration and reliability
through, for example, autonomous operations and
control, improved dynamic scheduling, fault
tolerant and/or adaptable computing, etc.;
- Increase data return through, for example,
onboard science autonomy and intelligent
compression; and/or
- Increase science or educational return from the
data through, for example, advanced knowledge
discovery, data synthesis and data presentation
methodologies.
Next call for proposals to this program is
expected to be issued on or about February
15, 2008 as part of
the Research Opportunities in Space and Earth
Sciences (ROSES) - 2008
announcement. ROSES announcements are made on the
NASA Research Opportunities

Progress Reports
Projects report on their progress at least once a
year. The program encourages investigators to report
significant results of their work, references to
publications that may have reported on these results,
as well as publications (by the project team or
others) that may have made use of these results.
Workshops
The program organizes annual
workshops to facilitate communication and
collaboration among the investigators. Presentations
at the workshop are published on this website to
communicate developments within the projects to
potential users.

Code and Algorithm Library
The program has developed a
facility for the investigators to share their
software and algorithms with the community.
Feedback from peers and experience of early
adopters will help the researchers, and promote
infusion of successful technologies into space
science research.
